Blue Star Donuts | She & Him Eats

Welcome back to another She & Him Eats! Today we are visiting the delicious Blue Star Donutsour first stop during our trip to Portland. Blue Star Donuts is a gourmet donut shop founded in Portland, Oregon, in 2012. Their donuts are made from a classic brioche recipe that originated in the South of France. It's a very popular donut shop in Portland and definitely one of our favorite. So join me today as we indulge in some coffee and donuts.

Stopping at Blue Star Donuts was a must for Ricky and I! It's seriously our favorite donut shop in Portland, why you may ask? because they create unique and creative flavors like Blueberry Bourbon Basil, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Cointreau Crème Brûlée, and Raspberry Rosemary Buttermilk. Their unique flavors has given them the nickname "Donuts for Grownups!"
Besides having delicious and creative donuts, Blue Star Donuts also has a beautiful store front. One of my favorite things is seeing the employees decorating the donuts right in front of you as you wait in line. Whats awesome is that they glaze and fill the donuts throughout the day, without artificial colors or preservatives. Also, these delicious donuts take 18 hours to make and are made by hand every day!
For starters, I order us two Nitro Cold Brew and I made sure to ask for some space for milk. The coffee was brewed with coffee beans by none other than Coava Coffee, which unfortunately I did not get to visit during our trip to Portland but I do have a ton of cool spots to share with you all.
Now for the donuts!
I was really tempted to order a Mexican Hot Chocolate donut but I had already tried that donut during my last visit and I felt like trying something new. So I ordered the Chocolate Almond Ganache A fresh brioche donut glazed with a thick and rich layer of dark chocolate and topped with chopped salted Marcona almonds. This donut was so delicious and you can definitely taste that dark chocolate. If you're a chocolate lover this donut is for you!
Ricky ordered his favorite the O.G (Orxata Glaze) A brioche donut dipped with their original, house-made Horchata (or Orxata) glaze. He loves this donut because it's simple but very delicious!

And of course we had to take a few pictures of ourselves because the lighting was so beautiful!
Like I mentioned earlier, Blue Star Donuts has a beautiful store front. Personally I think it's aesthetically pleasing. I loved the contrast between the white and the black with the subtle touches of blue. They also have this awesome and really funny Social Media Explained sign. During our last visit I forgot to take a picture in front of the sign, so I made sure to take one this time.

If you're ever visiting Portland, Blue Star Donuts is definitely my top place to have a donut. I've been to both Voodoo and Blue Star Donuts and I have to say, Blue Star Donuts takes the cake or should I say takes the donut. Their donuts are beautiful, delicious, fluffy, perfectly glazed and flavored. Plus the shop itself is a really nice place to eat and chill. There's huge windows, good music, and it's a nice open space. I really wish I lived in Portland so I could come here all the time! I hope you enjoyed today's post. Let me know in the comments below if you have ever tried Blue Star Donut or want to try it in the future.
