HoM Korean Kitchen | She & Him Adventures

Welcome to another She & Him Adventures. Today I will be talking about HoM. I am very excited to be blogging about HoM today because it has quickly become one of our newest favorite restaurant. HoM is a quick service Korean eatery. They commit to serving fresh, fast, and delicious Korean meals. All of their food is “HoM” made daily from scratch, using no preservatives, artificial additives or MSG. When possible, they try to source locally for pesticide free produce and meats free of antibiotics and hormones. They also offer vegan options and all of their food is free from dairy and nuts.
We decided to give HoM a try because Ricky is a huge fan of Korean food. He fell in love with Korean BBQ after he came back from Korea two years ago. So when I heard about this new restaurant I knew we had to try it. HoM is also conveniently located in the Downtown area of San Jose.   
One of the things we really love about HoM is the cool decor. HoM has a very rustic vibe, especially with the wooded furniture and the small terrariums on the tables. The restaurant is pretty small on the inside small but they also offer a side bar seating and outdoor seating for those busy and/or sunny days.
We consider HoM the Chipotle of Korean Food. In the sense that you start with a base and then you walk down and you choose your toppings. At HoM the Base options you can choose from are White Rice, Mixed Grains Rice, Toasted Rice, and Salad. Next you choose your Protein, and your options are Hodo Organic Tofu, BBQ Chicken, Firecracker Pork, Braised Beef, Korean Steak, and Veggie Only. Lastly you choose three BanChan which means Side Dishes, your options are; Bean Sprouts, Broccoli, Carrots, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Kimchi, Mushrooms, Potatoes, Radish, Spinach, and Zucchini. And to top it off they sprinkle your plate with chives, yum!
This top picture is one of Ricky's favorite combo. His base is White Rice with half Korean Steak and half Firecracker Pork, and his side dishes are broccoli, bean sprouts, and cucumber. What he really enjoys about this combo is the kick of spice the Firecracker Pork gives the food along with the pickled cucumbers. He says the cucumbers remind him of kimchi without the cabbage. 
Now my to-go combo is Toasted Rice with BBQ Chicken, Mushrooms, Broccoli, and Carrots. I really like the Toasted Rice over the White Rice because the rice is baked with pieces of carrots, potatoes, and zucchini. So it's like getting even more veggies in your meal, which is never a bad thing. 
During my second visit I got introduced to their HoM Spicy Sauce,which is shown above drizzled on my food. I definitely suggest trying their spicy sauce. It's like an elevated sweet Sriracha sauce. I wouldn't say it's very spicy but it is flavorful and its the perfect complement to your dish. 
Another thing we suggest you trying is the spinach, a friend of ours recently told us to try it and we were amazed at how well seasoned and flavorful it was. I had personally never tried cooked spinach as a side so this was new to me. Ever since I tried the spinach, I now substitute the carrots I would normally for spinach. I thought it was acceptable since small pieces of carrots already come in the Toasted Rice.

Overall HoM is to die for! Like seriously, we are so in love with their food we try to eat there once a week. We love the feeling we get after eating this healthy meal. You don't leave feeling sluggish at all! Ricky and I definitely love getting this quick healthy bite to eat while on our lunch breaks.

Oh, also this place is very clean and eco-friendly. There's always a different person for cooking raw meat, dishing up food & handling money at the register. They also hand you your food in environmentally friendly containers, which we love.
